Finding the right equipment for outdoor ventures is sometimes a difficult endeavour. Yvon Chouinard was an avid rock climber when he discovered that he couldn’t get everything he needed for his sport. He began to make his equipment himself, and in 1953 he started selling his equipment to the public. After a series of tragic incidents forced Chouinard to stop selling climbing equipment, he began to sell clothing.
